New research group

Recently, we welcomed a new research team at CNBCh UW – the Infection Biology Laboratory – led by Dr. Marta Zapotoczna.

The group’s ambition is to identify ways to prevent and treat bacterial infections, especially those caused by Staphylococcus aureus. The group’s research focuses on understanding the interactions of this bacterium with the human body.

The group uses various research methods, such as association analyzes between patients’ clinical data, bacterial characteristics and bacterial genomes, mutagenesis of Staphylococcus aureus isolates, molecular studies and *in vitro and ex vivo* models. The group’s current funding comes from SONATA14, OPUS24 and OPUS25 grants from the National Science Center.

More information about the team can be found on their website: https://cnbch.uw.edu.pl/laboratorium-biologii-zakazen/
