Opening of the Polish-Vietnamese Tropical Research Station!

On the second day of the scientific conference “New Opening,” a ceremonial opening took place of the Polish -Vietnamese Tropical Research Station (PWTSB), located in Hanoi, Vietnam, at the premises of the Vietnam Institute of Earth Science and Mineral Resources (VIGMR).

The symbolic plaque was unveiled by Tomasz Rzymkowski, PhD, Secretary of State, Government Plenipotentiary for Development and Internationalization of Education and Science, Ministry of Education and Science; and Trinh Hai Son, PhD, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Earth and Mineral Sciences.

The Polish-Vietnamese Tropical Research Station is an unique, interdisciplinary initiative by scientists from Poland and Vietnam. In the face of ongoing environmental changes related to urbanization, industrialization, and climate change, conducting research in the tropical climate zone offers exceptional research opportunities.

The PWTSB was established through the collaboration of renowned scientific institutions from both Poland and Vietnam. The Polish side is represented by a consortium comprising the University of Warsaw (UW), the Institute of Paleobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IP), the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (ING), and the State Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PGI-NRI). The Vietnamese side is represented by the Vietnam Institute of Earth Science and Mineral Resources (VIGMR).

It is worth emphasizing that international cooperation in the field of scientific research plays a crucial role, allowing scientists to transcend national boundaries and combine their knowledge and resources in pursuit of a better understanding and solutions to the challenges posed by the natural environment.
