DESCRIPTION OF THE GROUP

We study plant communities with regard to habitat gradients: edaphic, climatic and geochemical. The major role in our research plays analysing the functional diversity of plant communities, that helps understand the response of phytocenoses to environmental changes, including climate changes. Moreover, we use functional ecology methods to assess the effects of conservation and/or restoration of ecosystems.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

We are especially keen on wetland ecosystems (fens, river valleys) and steppes. Our mission is effective conservation of natural refugia of these ecosystems and restitution of degraded areas. Apart from scientific activities, we are committed to completing and providing expert opinions on nature conservation actions in Poland. We invite students who are concerned about the environment to cooperate with us.
