DESCRIPTION OF THE GROUP

This group conducts research concerning occurrence, ecophysiological properties and diversity of cyanobacteria, including the smallest organisms in this taxon – picocyanobacteria. We work in different habitats – typical aquatic (Great Mazurian Lakes, Suwalskie Lakes, Baltic Sea), telmatic and terrestrial, including drylands – semi-deserts and deserts (Pamir Mountains, Southern California). Moreover, we test the impact of chemical compounds used in remediation practices on cyanobacteria.
